So, I just started this fantastic job with AllGirlSkateJam. Company has been around for 12 years now. This is starting to seem like lucky year 12 in that we are now expanding and beginning to do pretty neat things like sell stuff.
Anyway, so I suppose I could tell you what my job is. It is to do this! Blog. That and update myspace, facebook, and twitter and such. So I essentially just got hired as a writer for a skateboard company. This may seem silly, but hey, new brand marketing. I think it is neat, and it gives me a job. Anyway, It is an all girl, all level skateboard company. We host events as well as a skate and surf camp. It is pretty rad considering I couldn't find anything like this when I was younger.
So anyway, I used to be pretty into the whole skate world when I was younger, even worked at a skate shop for 2 and a half years. It was me alongside 11 guys and I was a champion grip taper. But alas, those days ended when I became a poor college student. Well, I kinda finished college and devoted my life to living in Mammoth and riding every day of the winter there. But I've had two years of that and am now back in LA. Back to skateboarding and good music. Back to cheap burritos and the smell of wax melting in my car. A great feeling but scary at the same time. Hoping on a skateboard again almost feels nostalgic. But I'm excited to be working for a company that is so pro women in action sports and one that is being so supportive. But alas, I am so excited to be involved with something that is encouraging me to skate again. Who knows, maybe this will lead to bigger better things!
I am working my first event at warped tour tomorrow. We are having a skate comp there for all ages/abilities and such. Should be an amazing time. Just hope enough girls show up for it to be worth while. At least it will bring lots of pictures!
